About this blog

Shrila Pran Krishna das babajiShrila Pran Krishna das babaji appeared in a Vaisnava family in the year 1918, in the village Dhaka (the holy appearance place of the father of Shriman Chaitanya Mahaprabhu), near the city of Shri Hatta, in the present country of Bangladesh. Later on Praphullo (the previous name of Baba) went to reside in the Navadvipa’s Madan Mohan mandir, where he spent many years in the ashram of his Guruji, Jadu Gopal Goswami. After Jadu Gopal Goswami departed from this world he received complete siddha pranali from his son Madan Gopal Goswami.

Praphullo frequently visited Radha-kunda and Vrindavan with vaishnavas from Navadvipa. In Vrindavan he resided at the Kesi-ghat, sustaining himself mostly with water and madhukari roti (Indian bread received by begging from the local residents of Vraja) which he ate in a secluded place on a boat on the Yamuna river. Since 40 years he has been living permanently on Radha-kunda. Due to his deepest humility and exalted bhakti (devotion to the Lord) Bhagavat das babaji conferred on him the title of babaji (renounced order of life), and granted him the opportunity to reside in a kutir located at the right side of the Shri Shri Radha Gopinath mandir, where Shri Raghunatha Dasa Goswami performed bhajan on Radha-kunda. Since that time Praphullo is known till today as Shri Pran Krishna Das babaji maharaj. One time Bhagavat das babaji asked him to perform 24 hour kirtan in Raghunath das Goswami Samadhi. He agreed and many sadhus attended the kirtan.

Shri Pran Krishna Das Babaji, Vraja Renu Mahima.

Guruji starts singing - “If sand (dhula) from this land of Vraja touches the body of a sinful person (paapi).” Before singing further, he explains - “For example, in Bangladesh, don't we refer to this sand of Vraja although there is no Vraja bhoomi in Bangladesh. By saying like that we refer to the sand touching the feet of devotees performing Sankirtan. But in front of us here is directly the sand of Vraja bhoomi. This land is Vraja bhoomi itself. This sand is not ordinary sand. It is called Raja.”

Guruji resumes singing: “If sand (dhula) from this land of Vraja touches the body of a sinful person (paapi), then such a paapi goes to Vaikuntha lok on a divine, transcendental chariot. If this dhula (sand) falls in Ganga water then the water of Ganga also gets purified. Can you imagine, Ganga gets purified by Vraja dhula? The same Ganga water that purifies us, that water also gets purified by this Vraja dhula. This is stated in the Bhagwat Purana.”

Pran Krishna Das Babaji, 14.10.2019, 3 kinds of chanting Mahamantra.

In this video, Guruji explains the three ways of doing japa (chanting the maha-mantra) (Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare) demonstrating each of them. The 3 ways of chanting are:

1. Upanishy - in which the chanting is done loudly, almost like kirtan. This has the highest mahima (glories), because by loudly chanting or doing kirtan even the beasts, birds and animals are benefited.

2. Vachasik - in which the chanting is done in a conversational tone, like when a person speaks to someone over the phone. In this method of chanting the person hears his own voice and benefits only himself. So this method is of medium mahima.

3. Manasik - in which chanting is done in the mind, like when we memorize a passage, sometimes silently forming the words with our lips but making no sound. This is the fastest way to chant (doing japa), but because of mentally uttering the words at high speed there is sometimes a possibility of making mistakes in pronouncing or forming the names that comprise the Mahamantra. This method has the least mahima but enables a person to complete his rounds faster, in a much shorter time.

Taking a humble position, Guruji says that he does mansik japa because he is unable to do the other two kinds of chanting both of which he praises.
