This year the Vrindavan Research Institute (VRI), situated on Bhaktivedanta Marg, Vrindavan is celebrating the completion of 50 years of serving Vrindavan lovers and religious scholars. The institute is responsible for preserving hundreds of manuscripts and also has a small museum that showcases cultural relics and manuscripts.
The VRI also works to promote local artists and traditional art. The Golden Jubilee celebrations gave a ripe opportunity for stage performances by several of Braj’s prominent artists.
Among the performers was classical singer JSR Madhukar, who has been performing in Braj since childhood. His guru and father was the legendary vocal Maestro, Rasik Sant Hit Shri Asudaram Jee, from the Swami Haridas Parampara & Jaipur Gharana.
On 25th November, Braj Rasik JSR Madhukarji and his Sahadharmini also came to the VT office. These days, he is engaged in doing something quite unique – he goes to all the samadhis and bhajan sthalis of the great Braj rasik saints and Vanikars and records their songs. He has already done quite a few and is planning more.
