O, my dark and lovely Sri Krishna, colourful and playful Lord, the veil that Your Beloved Sri Radha is wearing is dyed in five lovely colours. ||1||

He is softly gazing at Her body, golden as a Champaka flower, upon which Her black blouse looks so beautiful. The veil is decorated with a yellow border and Her pearl necklace rests on top of it. ||2||

A flower-shaped ornament adorns Her head and Her parting is decorated with a string of fine pearls. Various flowers like the Champaka and the Bakula have been woven into Her hair braid. ||3||

Her glittering pendulous earrings shine next to Her luxurious long hair. She also wears exceptionally lovely studded earrings and a musk forehead decoration. ||4||

Her nose ornament defeats the effulgence of the sun. Her necklace is made of pearls with blue gems in between. ||5||

She also bears a locket of gold studded with priceless stones. She has heavy bangles, lovely wrist ornaments and rounded upper arm bangles. ||6||

The bells on Her ankle bracelets and belt ring out sweetly. Her gait is more beautiful than that of a swan and most attractive, defeating all comparison. ||7||

This beautiful Lady of Vraja, adorned in this manner, now approaches Her Enchanting Lord, the appreciator of pure Divine Loving Sentiment. He meets Her in the Forest Grove Palace and fulfills all Her deepest hopes and wishes. ||8||

The Most Beloved, King of Vraja and indeed of the whole Earth, joins as a couple with His Dearest Love. The Poet Govindasvami surrenders over and over and over again to the Fresh, Youthful Pair.” ||9||

Dhamar ko Pada – Rāga Gauḍa Malhāra
Poet Vallabha

Gulāla kī dhūṁdhara meṁ mukuṭa jhalaka
Tesī bhūṣaṇa basana kī |
Soṁdho aragajā abīra kī aṁdhiyārī
Arasaparasa bharan meṁ kilakanī dasana kī ||1||

Brajabhāminī tāmeṁ dāminī sī kodhata
Chūṭī dyuti daśana kī |
Barana-barana raṁga kī bali-bali vallabha
Chabīlī triyana para barakhā hota kuṁvara kī ||2||

In the midst of the cloud of pink powder the Beloved Lord’s crown shines out, as do His jewellery and yellow clothes. In the darkness caused by these doubly-fragranced clouds of red powder, the Gopis and their Lord embrace Each other and Their teeth shine out from within Their smiles! ||1||

Within the bevy of dreamily beautiful Ladies there is One Whose effulgence and the brightness of Whose teeth shines out like lightning. The Poet Vallabha takes shelter over and over again in all of these glorious colours and loving moods. The Lad Sri Krishna showers His deep Love upon this stunningly lovely Lady ||2||
