Pandit Shri Ananta Das Babaji was born in the district of Jharkhand in 1927. In 1950 Shri Ananta dasji left for a pilgrimage to meet the saint, Shri Kunja Bihari das Babaji Maharaj.

Having arrived at Radhakunda, he met with the great saint and received initiation into a disciplic succession descending from Lord Nityananda and Shri Jahnava Mataji through the descendants of Shri Dhananjay Pandit. At the end of this visit, despite his desire to stay at Radhakunda, Shri Kunja Bihari Das Babaji ordered him to return to his village to preach the message of Shri Gouranga Mahaprabhu, initiating people into spiritual life. On the order of his guru, Shri Ananta dasji returned to his family, teaching the local people and initiating some two hundred disciples over the following ten years.

Eventually he decided to renounce the world, departing for Radhakunda this time to stay for good. He received the garb of an ascetic from Shri Kunja Bihari das Babaji. Over the decades he engaged himself in the deep study of the Gaudiya canon of sacred texts, at the same time becoming more and more deeply absorbed in devotional service and meditation, both in the external and the esoteric internal methods of worship.
In accordance with the command of his spiritual master, Shrila Babaji Maharaj began to write extensive commentaries elucidating the fundamental concepts presented in the writings of the Six Goswamis of Vrindavan and in the writings of the latter great preceptors following in their footsteps. In his old age, he has retired to Radhakunda, focusing on his inner worship and on his life's mission - to reveal the original message of Lord Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu for the common man.
